I went abroad for my last internship; I chose sunny, humid, beautiful Singapore with its lush greenery and open attitude towards diasporas of all backgrounds. I spent most of my days working and applying for graduate school, while juggling meeting family I had never met. I spent my weekends at the mall—finding new places to eat and touring districts and neighbourhoods.
